The Kyrgyz government hasn’t given any clear sign that it will act to resolve the 65 cases soon. The official from the Prime Minister’s Office said the government is still working on the three new adoption regulations and amendments to the Family Code. The official couldn’t say when the draft regulations will be ready to submit to the Kyrgyz Parliament, or how long it might take Parliament to approve them. According to the official, once the regulations are approved by Parliament and signed by the President, it would take at least three months to implement new procedures plus additional time to accredit adoption agencies. It’s unclear how the draft legislation will affect the 65 cases.
