Kyrgyzstan starts moves to close U.S. airbase

Below is the link to the news story. Not sure what this will mean in terms of international adoption from Kyrgyzstan by US families but I hope the feeling in the pit of my stomach is wrong.

Why must the future of children in need around the world be tied to politics? Wouldn't it be great if their welfare could be a given.

Try not to read too much into that article ... I think it would be a sorry day for Russia if they were to extend their position on military bases all the way down to placing orphaned children with loving and willing adopted families!! The good news in the article is that they will receive $$ from Russia that will double their GDP. It would be nice to think that some of that extra $2B will make its way to the budgets of the orphanages.
